My portraits are painted in Oils; and, my method in creating a completed portrait painting is as follows:
I take photos of the sitter in a few poses and closeups for details; the photos provide a reference of the pose, clothing, and background elements, thus eliminating many unnecessary live sittings. These photos help me to develop the portrait painting to a stage of near completion and then, another live sitting is scheduled to make any final adjustments to the portrait painting. When completed, the portrait painting is varnished, framed, and delivered to the client. The cost of the portrait painting does not include the frame, however I often assist in choosing an appropriate frame. The cost of the portrait painting will depend on the dimensions as well as a client’s budget considerations.
